Davis is a second generation and life long broadcaster. Following in the footsteps of his mother who was a singer on WKBW/Buffalo, Davis began his career as an air personality in the Western New York area. He had a successful run at some of the nation’s biggest radio stations; including WOR/FM/New York; KHJ/Los Angeles; CKLW/Detroit; WLS-AM/Chicago.

While employed by RKO General Broadcasting, Davis was twice nominated for Billboard Magazine’s “Major Market Air Personality Of The Year.” Now Jim Davis continues to run a bunch of radio stations in the Daytona area when he's not flying his twin engine Aero Commander.

Almost ten years ago, we did a video interview with Jim Davis when he managed Clear Channel's six stations on Florida's west coast. Since that time, 'Big' Jim has managed the SpaceCoast cluster of radio stations in the Daytona area of Florida.

In May, 2011, we recorded an indepth update to our previous video in 2002, covering the evolutionary changes broadcasting has undergone and the significant challenges now faced by the radio business in today's digital media marketplace.

We present excerpts from both videos below. The update interview is just over six minutes in length. It is an excerpt from a fascinating hour we spent with Jim in May of 2011.
